Parenting techniques are not hereditary...@Mr Foss:

Parenting techniques are not hereditary, but parenting instinct is. No one teaches a wolf how to care for her young, but somehow, she manages not to eat them. Why?

I am well aware of the arguments on both sides of the nature vs. nurture debate, but I tend to lean more in favor of the nature camp. Millions of years of evolution-conditioned behaviors cannot easily be supplanted by most people. People are animals. There is such a thing as genetic memory and though research in this area is still embryonic, it is a fascinating subject.

In the Third Chimpanzee, Jared Diamond demonstrates how pretty much every human vice has animal precedents, including drug addiction.

If Ms. Anthony had a genetic predisposition to drug addiction, then that is a genetic flaw that impairs the survival of her offspring.

I don't believe in free-will, but regardless, none of this excuses Ms. Anthony's alleged actions, and the Jury will probably find her guilty.Gun-Toting Atheisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16257243603888510320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5721082653718997788.post-51042330227839136952011-07-05T04:58:26.685-04:002011-07-05T04:58:26.685-04:00I'm fairly confident Casey Anthony's probl...I'm fairly confident Casey Anthony's problem was not genetic; it was probably chemical, from what I understand.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02504734487692109101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5721082653718997788.post-47526370865734066792011-07-05T01:54:54.348-04:002011-07-05T01:54:54.348-04:00@His Lordship:

Our species has the ability to supplant instinct with gained knowledge.

I challenge you to find one evolutionary biologist who agrees with you.
