If a non-religious person would do it... I don't see the activity as being particularly religious. Rather, I see religion as having been secularized over 2400 years ago, and perhaps a little bit since then.<br /><br />What I think is important to note is that these moral teachings are characteristic of what are called "post-axial" religions, which we are primarily familiar with today (the axial age was around the 4th or 5th century BCE; it's generally considered to be ushered in by Socrates in the west and Buddha in the East, and this time was marked by a distinct emphasis on right behavior being just as important, if not more so, than performing the right ritual).<br /><br /><i>I don't see religion as the enemy. </i><br /><br />I also wouldn't say religion is my enemy... maybe a worthy adversary, because occasionally I encounter religious zealots who are an unfortunate obstacle to progress. It's perfectly possible for people to be religious and not stand in the way of other people living their lives, though (obviously).<br /><br /><i>And maintaining a sense of identity apart of the ideals that media portrays for women is stupid?</i><br /><br />I'm confused about this one.
