  1. Just read your FAQ for the first time. You write that you do not read/follow/worship Dawkins/Harris/Hitchens?

    First who is Harris?
Second do you have a problem with these guys?
Third How about Darwin, Jerry Coyne and P.Z. Myers?
and Finally are there any others you do read?

  2. Sam Harris is an American "New Atheist" who has written some books and does lectures on the topic. I don't dislike them, I'm just largely unaware of them.

I don't read Darwin because I'm not in college anymore. I like his ideas, though frankly modern evolutionary biology has moved well beyond his elementary views. I'm unfamiliar with Coyne, and I don't read Myers or his blog. No particular reason, I just don't think science has anything to do with religion. I'm far more intrigued by mythology than experimental science, though I'm eternally greatful science is practiced by others.

I tend to read (and watch) stuff by comedic atheists. Goerge Carlin and Bill Maher come to mind, but there are many others. They tend to engage religion on the level which religion operates, which I think is the way to go. Truly religious people don't care about science, they care about abstract ideas and their holy books. I think one must address the ideas and sacred texts directly.

  3. George Carlin had a big influence on me. He actually is my blog's first post and the inspiration for the blog's name and subtitle. He opened my mind. I remember cringing listening to him in my religious days. Being that I am an ex-fundie I appreciate your point. I now really enjoy the above mentioned atheists and scientists. I truly believe I could not have jumped into them without a bridge like GC. Bill Maher is great as well.
