  1. Sadly, these ring pretty true in my experience!

  2. Same old cliches from a pretend "liberal". Another boring "original" post.

  3. As for number two, Republicans mean entitlements and agencies like the EPA, sometimes the FDA, etc. They have no problem with big military, for example. They don't want government supporting policies they don't agree with, which falls, as a collection, under the euphemism of big government.

  4. By the way, I have a friend who told me, "yeah, I agree with that. Our government is too big." I asked him to name the programs he thinks should be cut. The only one he could name was defense spending, yet he liked the quality that Republicans have of hating big government.

Basically, "Big Government" is a sound bite that helps persuade uneducated people to vote GOP.

  5. Hilarious. I agree with most of those. I agree with John Myste too...none of the candidates are going to cut anything, its just something to say to get the uninformed to vote for them.

  6. Hahaha, are these yours or did you get them from someone else?

  7. I come up with my own stuff, though I'm sure if you look hard, you can find something somewhere on my blog that is unoriginal. Though if you do, tell me so I can give credit where it's due.

  8. @John: Of course. I imagine they use the term because really, we all hate government that is too big in certain ways, I can just also realize that I hate government that is too small.

  9. Okay, I asked because you had a cartoon with a great line that I wound up googling and found was unoriginal (something to the effect of "don't play hard to get when you're already hard to like") and in this case I was toying with the idea of reposting this list with attribution to you. Now, on second thought, I'm thinking I'll just link people here and let the traffic come straight to you, rather than take the list to my own site and make it superfluous to come here.

  10. Well by my reckoning, if you can find what I wrote somewhere else, I would be awfully hypocritical to get upset about you reposting something I wrote.

Even before going over this list, I'm confident I have seen something just like #4 elsewhere, though I'm not sure I could nail down a single source. Repost this list or link to it, whichever is easiest for you. Or better yet, repost it and add your own interpretations on ones I didn't cover very well (I think someone could easily do better on #9, for example).

  11. Now I'm curious who said, "Don't play hard to get when you're already hard to love/want." I can't find it in Google... if anyone happens to know, please tell me so I can attribute it properly. I'm worried it was just some anonymous person...

  12. It's a Facebook page at least http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dont-play-hard-to-get-if-youre-already-hard-to-want/136900593044523

  13. That is weird. There is a comment going back to February, which is well before I have the phrase in my notes (I would guess it's from sometime in August or maybe late July). I can't find a specific person who wrote it besides that facebook page, so I should contact them.

  14. Being original is the most unoriganal thing ever. Everything has been done and said before, it's just a matter of when and by whom.

  15. I don't mind being unoriginal, but I at least want to share credit if I "borrowed" anything. It's also interesting to find out how an idea may have gotten into my head.
