And the devil, taking him [Jesus] up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
~ Luke 4:5-7, KJV
Based on events that came after, it looks like Jesus took the devil up on his offer.
ReplyDeleteThis one never made sense to me.
ReplyDeleteAccording toi the myth, doesn't Jesus already possess all that, and more?
WTF?
And Jesus actually considered this offer?
Or, are they trying to say Jesus and Yahweh don't have power here on the earth?
Quite the contrary, mac...
ReplyDeleteYou have to realize that at the time, the Jews were under the rule of Rome, which seemed to control the whole known world (or was quickly on its way to doing so). Add to this that the Romans were evil polytheists, and you see quite clearly that it would be the opinion of Jewish monotheists of the time to view the earthly world as the domain governed by Satan, for who else would give those nasty Romans all that power?
